Who we are

This website is run by Made of Mischief Limited, trading as Mischief Maker ("we", "us", "our"). We're a company registered in England and Wales (company registration number is 16026784) with our registered office at 43 High Street, Marlow, SL7 1BA, United Kingdom

‍

We're the data controller for any personal information we collect through this website. If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your information, email us at hello@madeofmischief.com.

‍

What information we collect

We keep things light. We only collect what we need, and most of it comes directly from you:

  • When you get in touch: if you email us or use a contact form, we'll receive your name, email address, and anything else you choose to tell us, such as your company name or details of a project.
  • When you apply for a role: if you send us a CV, portfolio or application, we'll receive the details you include, such as your work history, education and contact information.
  • When you browse the site: our website host and any analytics tools we use may collect technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device, the pages you visit and how long you spend on them.

We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16, and we don't ask for any sensitive personal information. Please don't send us any.

‍

How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • reply to your enquiry and talk to you about potential projects
  • consider your application if you've applied to work with us
  • run, maintain and improve the website
  • meet our legal and accounting obligations

We'll never sell your information, and we won't add you to a mailing list unless you've asked us to.

‍

Our lawful basis

Under UK data protection law, we need a lawful reason to use your information. We rely on:

  • Legitimate interests: to reply to enquiries, review applications and keep the website running well. We only do this where it's something you'd reasonably expect and it doesn't override your rights.
  • Contract: where we're taking steps to work together, at your request.
  • Consent: for non-essential cookies and analytics. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
  • Legal obligation: where we need to keep records by law.

‍

Who we share it with

We only share your information with trusted services that help us run the studio, such as:

  • Webflow, which hosts this website
  • our email and file storage providers
  • analytics providers, if you've consented [e.g. Google Analytics, or remove if not used]
  • video platforms such as [YouTube / Vimeo], if you play an embedded video

Some of these providers may store data outside the UK. Where that happens, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as the UK's International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy decision.

We may also share information if we're required to by law.

‍

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored on your device when you visit a website. We use essential cookies that the site needs to work properly. With your consent, we may also use analytics cookies to understand how people use the site, and embedded videos may set their own cookies when you play them.

You can manage your preferences through our cookie banner at any time, or block cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how the site works.

‍

How long we keep it

We only keep your information for as long as we need it:

  • Enquiries: up to [2 years] after we last spoke, unless we end up working together.
  • Job applications: up to [6 months] after the role is filled, unless you've asked us to keep your details on file for future roles.
  • Client records: up to 6 years after a project ends, for accounting and legal reasons.

After that, we'll securely delete it.

‍

Keeping it safe

We use reputable providers and sensible security measures to protect your information. No website or email is ever completely secure, but we do our best to keep your details safe.

‍

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
  • ask us to correct anything that's wrong or incomplete
  • ask us to delete your information
  • object to, or ask us to limit, how we use it
  • ask us to transfer it to someone else
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on it

To use any of these rights, email hello@madeofmischief.com. We'll reply within one month.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, we'd love the chance to put it right first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
